Good morning, New Burgundians!
That’s a joke, and a bad one at that. I live on a big hill, one that overlooks the town of Newberg in the Dundee Hills of beautiful Western Oregon. Some of us call it The Berg, some more of us call ourselves New Burgundians. Get it? Because we’re deep in wine country? And Burgundy is…? I know, I’ll stop. This is embarrasing.
While I absolutely hate waking up before the darkness has subsided during the glorious Oregon winters, being awake to catch the unreal sunrises from our vista point is definitely worthwhile. This morning was something else, as you can see.
Today is an awesome day. My sweetheart and I are headed to the mountains this afternoon to celebrate his birthday in the snow with our sweet (see: crazy) German Shepherd, Addie. In case you were wondering, the cat (Charles Nelson) is staying home to keep an eye out for rogue rodents in the laundry room. We’re going to stay in a cabin at Odell Lake, a childhood favorite of mine. I can’t wait to share some photos from the weekend upon my return, but I’m getting ahead of myself. You chill, you hear me? More gardening posts to come in the next few weeks (It has been SO warm and wonderful here, dare I say that the frost risk is past us?) as well as more of goodness knows what else I’ll come up with.
Until next time,
Dretta
